Pastor
Dave Greegor graduated from Arlington Baptist College in Arlingon, Texas, in 1973. He received his Master of Divinity from Covington Theological Seminary in 1985. He has pastored Dalton Baptist Church since 1973. He also taught at Massillon Baptist College for fifteen years. He and his wife, Kathy, have three children and currently thirteen grandchildren who bring great joy to their lives!A love for God, our Creator and Lord and Saviour, a love for our fellow Christians and a love for the lost and dying have been the driving forces of the congregation of Dalton Baptist Church for over forty years.
The doors of the church were first opened in July 1973, by founder and pastor, Dave Greegor. The first services were held in a rented building located on Lincolnway. From July 1973, until January 1974, the church served as a mission of New York Avenue Baptist Church of Arlington, Texas. On Sunday, January 20, 1974, Pastor Greegor was ordained and the church was chartered. After moving to a building in downtown Dalton, the church saw the need for a more adequate auditorium and Sunday school facility and made the decision to build at the current location at 400 Lincolnview Drive in 1979 and held the first service there on May 25, 1980. An addition which doubled the size of the former building was added in 2007, and by God's grace, the mortgage was completely paid in January, 2015, and the church is now debt free.
Pastor Greegor has continued to preach the whole Bible and the message of salvation and the congregation has worshiped, served, fellowshipped and grown in their Christian walk together.
Currently, the church has Sunday school classes for all ages. During the morning worship service there is a junior church for preschoolers and a through-the-Bible junior church for grades one through six. An exciting new music program, Bible Truth Kids, for grades one and up has recently started and takes place during the 7:00 Sunday evening service. Bible Truth Kids are not only learning lessons from the Bible but Scripture songs and getting a good start with lessons on music.
The choir sings in both Sunday services and the church is blessed to have talented people singing or playing specials also. Churchwide activities are planned monthly in addition to activities for the youth group. Annual events include vacation Bible school, children's Christmas program, and the adult Christmas cantata. Ministries for the community include the Shady Lawn ministry, the food pantry ministry and a visitation outreach.
